ALBANY – Megan Tackett didn’t do it all by herself. It just seemed like it.

Tackett, a senior guard, scored a career record 44 points as the Green Lady Bobcats whipped Waterford 67-53 in the Division IV sectional finals.

Tackett had five 3-pointers and 15 of 19 from the line in her total. She now has a school-record 41 goals from behind the arc.

"Megan’s like a fine wine. She’s just getting better with time. There wasn’t anything complex about our strategy," Green coach Melissa Knapp said.

Besides Tackett, Samantha Jones scored a career-high 16 points for the Lady Bobcats who will play South Webster at 6:15 Wednesday at Huntington Ross High School.

Joaconda Smith and Heather Fulmer scored 19 points each to pace Waterford (12-9).

"We knew Waterford had a good team and it was going to be tough into the game, but we worked on it all week and the girls came through," Knapp said.

Waterford took a 17-13 first quarter lead as Fulmer scored eight points. Tackett had nine of Green’s total.

Tackett came back to score 10 points the second quarter as Green rallied to take a 31-27 lead at the break.

"We started out slow, then played well in the second and third quarters, It was wonderful. We started three freshmen and we started out slow. It was a good experience for all our girls," Knapp said.

Another 10 points by Tackett the third quarter extended the lead to 47-38.

Waterford closed to within three points in the fourth quarter, but Tackett hit a 3-pointer and went on to converted 12 of 14 from the line to seal the victory.

Smith had 11 of her points in the final quarter.
