A cloud of suspicion hangs over a train hit that occurred last night, killing one Ironton woman.
Police responded this morning at about 2 a.m. to a train hit near Mulberry Street and found that Pamela Goldcamp, 53, was struck by a Norfolk Southern train as she was on the railroad tracks.
Capt. Chris Bowman, Ironton Police Department detective, said it is unclear how the women ended up on the tracks in the first place. He said the body was sent to the Franklin County Coroner’s office for an autopsy, adding that the incident remains under investigation.
In addition to IPD, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, the Lawrence County Prosecuting Attorney’s office and the Coal Grove Police Department responded to the incident.
