Jan. 2, 1939-May 22, 2002 COAL GROVE -- Fred Thomas Bryant Jr., born Jan. 2, 1939, to the late Fred and Mildred Massie Bryant, departed this life Wednesday, May 22, 2002, to appear in the presence of the Lord.

He was born in Coal Grove, Ohio. He was a member of Zoar Baptist Church in Coal Grove and he was previously employed by Ashland Oil, C&O Railroad, Detroit Steel and he also was an operator for South Point Ethanol. He was a 1957 graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and also attended Morehead College.

He also was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Thomas Bryant and Monte Randall Bryant; and one brother, Larry Bryant. He is survived by his wife, Dolores White Bryant, whom he married Aug. 15, 1970.

He also is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Leota and John Workman of Catlettsburg, Ky., Lisa Browning of Coal Grove, Deondra and Tawni Cottrill of Kansas, Ill.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Leo and Debbie Boggs of Coal Grove, Leslie and Tara Boggs of Coal Grove and Douglas and Tina Lauter of Mattoon, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Jerry Moore of Forestdale; two sisters-in-law, Edith Bryant of Coal Grove and Helen Kelley of Pedro; and one brother-in-law, William White of Willow Wood.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, with Dr. Tim York officiating. Burial will be in Community Cemetery. Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
