Betty Price

Betty Barnsgrove Price of Ironton, formerly of Hinton and Charleston, W.Va., passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky. She was the daughter of Richard Blake and Bernice Lane Barnsgrove.

Mrs. Price was a graduate of Charleston High School and was employed by C&O Railroad. Later, she served as secretary and administrative assistant to Justice Richard Neely of the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals. After her retirement, she resided in Charleston until 2001, when she returned to Ironton.

Mrs. Price was very civic-minded, and in earlier years, formed Ironton's League of Women Voters. While she resided in Charleston, she was an active member of and served as secretary to the West Virginia Historical and Preservation Society. She also served as a member of the Board of the Kanawha Valley Regional Transportation Authority. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Ironton, where she formerly served as parish secretary.

She was married to the late Henry Clay Price Jr. of Hinton and was the mother of Henry Hill Price of Columbus, Jeffrey A. Price and Richard B. Price, both of Ironton, all of whom survive.

Mrs. Price has two surviving sisters, Ann B. Lytle of Charleston and Virginia L. Colter of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; as well as a half sister, Helen Hughes of Defiance, Ohio. She also leaves three grandchildren, Emily Price, Daniel Price and Clay Price.

Visitation will be 9:30-11 a.m. Friday at O'Keefe-Baker Funeral Home in Ironton. Funeral services will follow at St. Mary's Church at Pine Grove. Burial will be in Hinton, W.Va., at Greenbriar Cemetery.
