A transformer failure Friday evening in parts of Boyd and Greenup counties in Kentucky left approximately 800 customers without electricity.

American Electric Power Corporate Communications Consultant Charles Ferguson said the transformer failed just after 3 p.m. The concentration of customers without service were in Westwood, just outside the city of Ashland. Plan called for a mobile substation to be brought in to provide temporary service until the repairs could be made.

&uot;We don't know the cause of the failure,&uot; Ferguson said Friday evening. &uot;We realize this is an inconvenience, and we are working quickly to get the problem resolved.&uot;
