Ironton 6th in computer

The computer ratings have returned, and so have the Ironton Fighting Tigers.

In what is almost seems to go hand-in-hand, Ironton is among the Ohio High School Athletic Association computer ratings released for the first time this season Tuesday evening.

Ironton, 3-1, is sixth in Region 15 of Division IV with a 6.1750 average.

The top team is unbeaten New Lexington with an 8.8500 average followed by Portsmouth with an 8.7660 average.

Next is Martins Ferry at 8.2750, Coshocton 6.3500, Portsmouth West 6.3000, Ironton, Utica 5.8000, and Fairfield Union 5.7750 average.

Wheelersburg is eighth in Region 19 of Division V with a 4.1370 average. Lucasville Valley, which lost to Wheelersburg, is sixth in Region 19 with a 5.4000 average.

Sciotoville (Portsmouth) East is sixth in Region 23 of Division VI with a 3.8820 average.

The top eight teams in each region of each division qualify for the postseason playoffs. The final ratings will be released on Sunday, Oct. 27 with the playoffs beginning Nov. 1-2. Jim Walker/The Ironton Tribune
