Ironton 5th in computer; Vikings 10th

Moving up and moving in.

In the latest release of computer ratings by the Ohio High School Athletic Association, the Ironton Fighting Tigers moved up while the Symmes Valley Vikings moved into the top 10.

Ironton (5-1) moved up one spot to fifth in Region 15 of Division IV thanks to its 53-18 win over Ashland Saturday night.

The Tomcats were 4-1 entering the game and figure to continue winning which will mean more points for the Fighting Tigers.

Portsmouth and New Lexington switched places for the second straight week. Coshocton went to third and Martins Ferry slipped to fourth. Portsmouth West dropped from fourth to sixth.

Fairfield Union was seven, Waverly eighth, Wellston ninth, and Westfall 10th.

Symmes Valley made its debut in the ratings as the No. 10 team in region 23 of Division V. The Vikings play at Lucasville Valley Friday in a game that not only will go a long way in deciding the Southern Ohio Conference, but possibly making the playoffs.

Danville leads the region followed by Strasburg-Franklin, Shadyside, Millersport, Bealsville, Glouster Trimble, Centerburg, Newark Catholic, and Sciotoville East.

The Wheelersburg Pirates jumped from eighth to fourth in Region 19 of Division V.

Amanda-Clearcreek was first followed by Barnesville, Woodsfield Monroe, and then Wheelersburg. Johnstown-Monroe was fifth, then came Lucasville Valley, Shenandoah, Crooksville, Newcomerstown, and Toronto.
