River Valley blanks Dragons; Green tumbles to Northwest
CHESHIRE -- If this had been a baseball game, not only would it have been a shutout, but it was close to a no-hitter.
The Fairland Dragons were limited in plays from the line of scrimmage and had just 4 net yards offense in a 19-0 season-ending loss to the River Valley Raiders in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
River Valley ran 63 plays to just 28 for Fairland. In fact, the Dragons managed to run only 10 plays the first half while River Valley controlled the line of scrimmage and ran 36 first half plays.
The Raiders drove 78 yards in 15 plays in the first quarter for a touchdown. Jesse Ward did the honors with a 1-yard scoring run and John Polcyn's conversion kick made it 7-0.
River Valley came back the second quarter and scored twice as Ward went 1-yard on the keeper and Adam Durst ran 4 yards for a touchdown with 2:49 on the clock.
Burley Geiger had 101 yards on 10 carries, quarterback Joey Graham had 65 yards on 11 carries, and Durst 60 yards on 13 attempts as River Valley racked up 310 rushing yards.
Sam Huff intercepted a pass for the Dragons, his eighth of the season.
The Dragons finish the season 3-7 and 2-3 in the OVC. River Valley, in its first season as a member of the OVC, closes out 4-6 and tied for second in the league at 3-2.

Northwest 26, Green 6
FRANKLIN FURNACE -- The Green Bobcats wanted to finish with a positive game.
The Bobcats didn't get a win, but they did give a positive performance as they lost their season finale 26-6 Friday night.
Green trailed just 7-6 at the half and the final Northwest touchdown came with less than a minute to play.
After a scoreless first quarter, Northwest took a 7-0 lead when Joe Schackart hit Ryan Hopper with a 30-yard touchdown pass. Mason Bradbury kicked the extra point.
Green answered as Jimmy Moore passed 30 yards to Chris Kimbler for a touchdown with 5:29 left in the half. The conversion run failed and it was 7-6.
Northwest opened up some breathing room in the third quarter on a 1-yard scoring run by Schackart with 3:37 left in the quarter. A turnover gave the ball back to Northwest and Nic Pertuset scored on a 13-yard run at the 2:20 mark.
Derrick Pennington ran 30 yards for a touchdown with 54 second to play to close out the scoring.
Pennington had 102 yards on 21 carries to lead Northwest. Moore led Green with 92 yards on 22 carries while Jeremy Terry added 21 yardson five tries.
Defensively for Green, Moore racked up 20 tackles, Kimbler nine, and Terry eight.
The Bobcats finish the season 1-8.
