Firefighters spent nearly four hours fighting a fire in Ironton Friday night.

The fire at 716 S. Seventh St. began at 6:19 p.m., Mike Hasenhauer, shift captain, said. The house, owned by Ed Rambacher and occupied by Sherri Rambacher, was empty at the time, and no firefighters were injured, he said.

The house was "extensively damaged" and all personnel were called to the scene, Hasenhauer said. The cause is still under investigation.
