A West Virginia man wanted in Cabell County, W.Va. for sex offenses involving children was arrested over the weekend in Chesapeake by a multi-agency task force.
Philip Brent Lawhorn, 27, of Huntington, W.Va., remains in the Lawrence County Jail this morning, awaiting extradition back to West Virginia.
The United States Marshal's Service had been investigating Lawhorn's whereabouts, and had tracked him Friday night to Huntington, but Lawhorn eluded capture and escaped across the river to Ohio. Law enforcement members assigned to the USMS Task Force
have nationwide jurisdiction for fugitives they are investigating. Once in Ohio they contacted the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office and the Chesapeake Police Department for assistance.
Lawhorn was taken into custody at a Chesapeake residence.
The Cabell County, W.Va., Sheriff's Office was also involved in Lawhorn's arrest.
