MINFORD - The weather wasn't good. Neither were the results.

The St. Joseph Flyers dropped an 11-2 decision to the Minford Falcons Tuesday as a steady rain fell throughout the game.

Flyers coach Greg Bryant said the rainy, muddy conditions were not conducive for baseball and the game was called after six innings.

"They had one inning in the fourth they stretched the lead on walks and an error. The conditions made things tough, but overall we played pretty well," Flyers coach Greg Bryant said.

"I thought our guys showed more patience at the plate. We were getting more people on base. It just wasn't a good night to play and it got worse as the game wore on."

After a scoreless first inning, Minford pushed across four runs in the second.

Justin Lewis walked, Matt Cordell singled, and Chris Newman was safe on an error to load the bases. Craig Cook tripled in all three runners and scored on a wild pitch.

Four more runs scored in the fourth.

Lewis walked, Cordell doubled, Newman reach on an error as a run scored, and four straight walks completed the rally.

St. Joseph got its two runs in the fifth.

Steve Moore and Kurt Jordan walked, Danny Stack singled to load the bases, and Kyle Johnson delivered a two-run single.

The Falcons got three in the bottom of the inning on three walks and two singles.

Johnson and Addis each went 1-for-2 while Stack was 1-3.

Joe Perkins threw a three-hitter as he went the distance to get the win for Minford, 4-1. He struck out nine but walked eight.

St. Joseph, 0-4, hosts New Boston Wednesday.
