AID - Mandy Estep doesn't like anyone to get a hit.
After throwing a no-hitter last week, Estep threw a one-hitter Monday as the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings blanked the Green Lady Bobcats 4-0 in a Southern Ohio Conference game.
Estep struck out 11 and did not walk a batter. A single by Traci Elrod in the fourth inning proved to be the lone baserunner.
"Mandy threw the ball real well and we played good defense behind her," Lady Vikings coach Jeff "Odie" Estep said. "We're not getting a lot of hits or runs, but we're getting them when we needed them."
The Vikings got the only run they needed in the second inning.
With one out, Rebecca Capper reached on a fielder's choice and scored on Kayla Bowman's double.
Another run scored in the fourth when Bowman reached on an error, moved up on a ground out, took third on a throwing error, and came home when Estep was safe on an error.
The Lady Vikings got two insurance runs in the fifth.
Tommie Holbrook reached on an error with two outs, Bowman singled, both moved up on a passed ball, Capper was safe on an error as Holbrook scored, and Bowman came home when Erin Martin's fly ball was misplayed in the outfield.
Symmes Valley (12-4, 8-0 SOC) plays at Fairland Tuesday.
