FRANKLIN FURNACE — When the umpire yelled, “Play ball!” the Green Bobcats did just that.

Green bounced back from two poor outings with a 4-2 win over the Chesapeake Panthers Wednesday.

“We did not perform up to our ability the last two outings and we need to come out and play well today,” Green coach Dave Shoupe said.

Matt Clark and Odie Kelly combined on a four-hitter and eight strikeouts. Clark got the win while Kelly struck out five of the last eight batters for the save.

Chesapeake (12-6) took a 2-0 lead to start the game but couldn’t get anything else going the last six innings.

Bryon Huff singled, Cory Methax walked and Kersten Harris lined a two-run double.

Green (12-4) tied the game with two runs in the third inning.

Clark and Kelly singled, Derek Lewis put down a sacrifice bunt. Randy Ratcliff grounded out as a run scored and Brian Ramey followed with a run-scoring single.

Ramey provided the game-winning hit as he slugged a two-run homer in the fifth inning after a double by Lewis.
