A Coal Grove man was arrested Saturday morning and charged with DUI, his fourth offense in the last six years. Later in the day, he was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Stephen L. Johnson, 45, was also charged with driving under a license suspension and parking prohibitions.

During an investigation, it was determined that the car that Johnson was driving at the time of his arrest had been reported stolen to Coal Grove police earlier that morning.

Coal Grove Police Sgt. Eric Spurlock said Carl Hager, of 115 Main St., alerted police at 6:30 a.m. that his 1985 Chevrolet was missing, and that whoever had it was driving it without his permission.

According to Ironton police reports, Johnson tested .277 on his breathalyzer test. According to Ohio law, the legal limit of intoxication is .08. A fourth DUI arrest within six years makes the charge a felony as opposed to a misdemeanor.

Johnson is lodged in the Lawrence County jail.
