BEREA -- Kelly Holcomb got the answer he's been waiting for since the end of last season.
No, he didn't learn that he would be the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns.
Holcomb's wife, Lorie, gave birth to a 7-pound, 10-ounce boy Thursday morning.
''He named it Paul Hilton Davis Jr.,'' joked Browns coach Butch Davis, referring to his given name. ''Not that he's trying to win the job or anything.''
The Holcombs actually named their third child, Jameson Cullen. They have two daughters, Kellyn, 4 and Jalyn, 2.
Asked Wednesday if he was hoping for a boy, Holcomb said, ''I just as soon have a girl, but my wife told me I wouldn't like that when they're 18, 16 and 14.''
Holcomb is competing with Tim Couch to be Cleveland's starting quarterback. Davis said that on Friday he will name the starter for Saturday's preseason game in Tennessee.
Couch, who is single, said he's in no hurry to compete with Holcomb in the fatherhood department.
''I'll leave the babies to Kelly,'' he said. ''I have a hard enough time taking care of myself.''
