AID - Symmes Valley School District officials will dedicate the new addition to the high school Sunday.

Superintendent Tom Ben said the ceremony will be at 3 p.m., but doors will open an hour earlier to allow area residents to have a look around.

"The public will be able to tour the facility and see what improvements have been made," Ben said. "This dedication will also allow us to thank people who helped us have this."

Ben said while much of the addition was in use last school year, this may be the public's first opportunity to see the facility.

Construction began in April 2002 on a 16,000 square-foot addition to the school that includes a multimedia center, computer facilities, meeting rooms, office space and a lecture hall-type classroom. Other areas of the high school have been renovated as well.

Ben said work continues on some of the renovations being made in conjunction with the new addition, such as the remodeling of the school's entry hall, and renovation of the restrooms and home economics laboratory.

A representative and BB&L Construction, general contractors for the project, as well as local government officials and a representative of the Ohio School Facilities Commission are expected to attend the ceremony.
