County man set to stand trial in Kentucky

GRAYSON, Ky. - A Lawrence County, Ohio man is scheduled to go on trial next week in Carter County, Ky., Circuit Court on charges of beating his ex-wife.

The trial was scheduled to have begun today, but was postponed one week.

counts of wanton endangerment and a single count of criminal mischief. Carter County Commonwealth's Attorney David Flatt said if he is convicted, Wright faces 5 to 10 years in prison on the assault charge, 1 to 5 years on each wanton endangerment charge and 1 year in prison for the criminal mischief charge, with a maximum of 20 years total for the entire incident.

Flatt said Wright is accused of running the victim's car off the road while she was traveling on Interstate 64 near the Boyd County-Carter County. line, and then beating her severely and damaging her vehicle.

Wright is also scheduled to stand trial Nov. 24 in U.S. District Court in Ashland on a charge of conspiracy to possess or convert stolen money orders. Wright and another man, Ronald Patrick, of South Point, were arrested in late September in Ashland by local and federal authorities. They are accused of taking money orders from the Kitts Hill Post Office June 26.

Wright is also scheduled to stand trial in Boyd County, Ky. District Court Dec. 3 in another alleged assault incident and on a fugitive from justice warrant.

He is also scheduled to stand trial in Boyd County Circuit Court Dec. 17 on charges of theft by deception and criminal possession of a forged instrument stemming from yet another incident.
