A lone gunman robbed the Burlington Domino's pizza after midnight Saturday, and Tri-State law enforcement officials have arrested the man they believe is responsible.
Nathan Dolen, 23, of 4561 Blankenship Road, Huntington, W.Va., was arrested Saturday by the Barboursville Police Department and was taken to the Cabell County Jail. Lawrence County Sheriff Tim Sexton said the department has requested that Dolen be charged with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony. Sexton said he expects Dolen to be charged by the Huntington Police Department for another robbery in Huntington.
At 12:50 a.m. Saturday, a deputy from the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department was dispatched to the store at the K-Mart plaza, Sexton said. Reportedly, a lone gunman entered the store with his face covered. Employees at the store saw the man coming inside with the gun and immediately fled through a back entrance, Sexton said.
The man then allegedly fired shots into the counter to open the cash drawer and fled with an undetermined amount of cash and checks, Sexton said. Other Tri-State law enforcement officials were later notified.
Sheriff's deputies later determined that the suspect's car was a white Ford Thunderbird that was allegedly stolen when a store in Huntington, W.Va., was also robbed, Sexton said. This car was found at 12:40 p.m. Saturday on Branch Little Buffalo Road (Township Road 130) in the Chesapeake area by sheriff's deputies. The weapon allegedly used in the robbery was found in another location, also by Lawrence County deputies.
Dolen was later arrested by Barboursville police in an apparent traffic stop, and police discovered evidence that included money, linking him to the crime, Sexton said. Dolen has been interviewed by Lawrence County law enforcement officials, and gave them "substantial" information about the robbery, Sexton said.
