Gallipolis fights off Redwomen comeback

GALLIPOLIS - Forget the record. The Rock Hill Redwomen just keep battling.
After losing by just one point in their last game against Portsmouth, the Redwomen lost just 60-52 to traditional power Gallipolis Monday.
Each team made 25 field goals, but the Blue Angels had a pair of 3-point goals and outscored the Redwomen by six points at the foul line.
Jackie Wamsley scored a game-high 19 points to lead Gallipolis, now 4-1. Kari James had 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Rock Hill (0-3) was led by Marie Bamer and Bobbi Harper with 16 points each. Keisha Rupp added 10 points.
Mandy McKenzie pulled down 10 rebounds while Monica Bamer had two assists and four steals and Marie Bamer handed out two assists.
The Redwomen were 8 of 9 from the field in the first quarter and the game was tied 16-16. Rock Hill was 18 of 49 the rest of the game for 37 percent.
Gallipolis pulled away to a 28-24 halftime lead and extended the cushion to 45-34 at the end of three quarters.
The lead reached as many at 14 points in the fourth quarter before Rock Hill chipped away.
Rock Hill hosts Green next Monday.
