A few new faces and some familiar ones will soon be greeting downtown shoppers.
Hoss Cat men's clothing store opene at 9 a.m. today in the Gabler Building on Third Street.
A Mexican restaurant, Toro Loco, could open as early as next week in the Crawford Building next door.
Hoss Cat manager Donnie Townsend said he began moving the stock from his Ironton Hills location Saturday for the opening of his new location today.
"It's not going to be in perfect shape. It's going to take 30 to 60 days to renovate the building," Townsend said. "But we will be open for business."
Townsend said moving to the Gabler Building will triple the amount of floor space he will have to work with. He also said he plans a grand opening for his store once the renovations are completed.
Meanwhile, Toro Loco co-owner Ricardo Ramos said he and other workers are adding finishing touches this week on the new restaurant that will occupy the first floor of the building that formerly housed Allyn's Jewelers.
"The guy making the booths and the tables said they are not ready yet," Ramos said. "We may be open next week if everything goes well. I'm really excited."
Ramos said the renovations have required him and other workers to put in 10-hour days since late November to get the building in good working order.
Ramos and partner Jose Garcia also own Mexican restaurants in Wheelersburg, Jackson, and Chillicothe.
