SARASOTA, Fla. - Left-hander Jung Keun Bong and five others were sent to the Cincinnati Reds' farm system Wednesday, leaving 30 players in camp.
Bong, obtained last week from Atlanta in a trade for reliever Chris Reitsma, was optioned to Triple-A Louisville along with infielder Tim Hummel. The Reds want Bong to be a starter in the minors.
The Reds also assigned four nonroster players to their minor league camp: left-hander Mike Matthews, outfielder McKay Christensen, utility player Jermaine Clark and outfielder Jacob Cruz.
The Reds have 15 pitchers left in camp, including reliever Todd Jones, who agreed to a minor league deal last week.
