Health fair slated at Memorial Methodist Church

COAL GROVE- It is both a health care tool and a church's unique outreach to the surrounding community.

Memorial Methodist Church will have a health fair from noon until 3 p.m. April 24 at the church It is sponsored by the REACH Group of the church and Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.

This year, two new screenings will be offered - glaucoma and vascular screenings.

"I really want to stress the (availability of) the glaucoma screening," health fair coordinator Carol Gool said. "You can have this problem and not know it. I think everyone should get checked, young and old. This is such a dangerous thing."

Other health screenings will be available as well.

The church has been having health fairs for more than eight years, usually once in the spring and once in the fall.

"We're concerned about all aspects of a person's life,"

Kifin Judson, the wife of Pastor Steven Judson, said. "Certainly as a church we are concerned about where a person is spiritually but this is another way we can help the community."
