A Lawrence County grand jury will be convened today to hear the case against an Ironton man accused of setting a deadly fire at the Lyle Motel.
Rodger Marshall, 56, of 2101 N. Second St. Rear, already faces an arson charge in connection with the Aug. 2 fire. The grand jury will decide if he will stand trial for any additional charges.
Lawrence County Prosecutor J.B. Collier Jr. said he thought this session would last one day.
Marshall was returned to the area late last week and was housed in the Lawrence County Jail. He has been a patient in the burn unit of a Columbus hospital since the day of the fire.
James Reed and John Meyer, who both lived at the Lyle Motel, and Meyer's girlfriend, Lolaetta Corbin Hicks, were found dead at the motel when firefighters arrived to fight the blaze.
Marshall was arrested at his residence a short time later and taken to a local hospital for treatment before being sent to Columbus.
