COAL GROVE - Last year a couple hundred people attended the first fall festival and block party at Memorial United Methodist Church in Coal Grove; this year, even Elvis will make an appearance.

The festival scheduled for this Saturday from noon to 5 p.m., will include include health screenings, provided by King's Daughters Medical center staff, a pig roast, a cake and pie bakeoff, games and Christian entertainment, and an Elvis impersonator.

Kifin Judson, wife of the church's pastor, the Rev. Steve Judson, said last year's inaugural event was so well-received by the community, the congregation decided the fun should continue.

"We heard so many comments and lots of people asked us 'are you going to do this again next year?'" Judson said. "I like seeing so many people getting together who may not normally see each other. I like the crowds."

Church member Carol Gool said the festival allows the church and the community to become more familiar with each other.

"We want to get people in the community acquainted with what goes on

in our church," Gool said. "And we want to reach out to people in the area. This is not just for the people on the block but for the whole community. It's an opportunity to come and have fun."

The church is located at 226 Memorial St.
