Five men plead guilty to burglary

Todd Drown, 20, of 63 Private Drive 3418, Chesapeake, pleaded guilty this week to misdemeanor breaking and entering in connection with the burglary of the Proctorville Subway.
Lawrence County Common Pleas Judge Richard Walton sentenced Drown to six months in jail but suspended that sentence and ordered Drown to three years probation and ordered him to make restitution.
A second man arrested in connection with that break-in, Larry McDonald, pleaded guilty last week to a misdemeanor count of attempted breaking and entering.
Lawrence County Common Pleas Judge Frank McCown sentenced McDonald to six months in the county jail but suspended that sentence and ordered him to three years probation, including 60 days home confinement. A third man arrested in that incident, Chesapeake police officer David Adkins, 25, of 402 Rear Elizabeth St., Proctorville, is scheduled to stand trial in October for his part in the break-in.
Others pleading guilty:
4Daniel Stapleton, 25, of 582 Township Road 343, Ironton, signed a bill of information on one count of burglary and one count of escape. Walton sentenced Stapleton to 11 months on the escape charge and three years on the burglary charge, to be served concurrently.
Walton also ordered Stapleton to pay restitution. He is accused of breaking into a Kitts Hill residence in August.
4Jeff Cade, 18, of 32 County Road 7, Ironton, and Rodney Peyton, 24, of 156 Private Drive 910, Pedro, each pleaded guilty to one count of burglary in connection with the break-in at a residence on State Route 650 in Ironton June 13.
Judge McCown sentenced
both Peyton and Cade each to 90 days in the county jail and four years community controlled sanctions under intensive supervised probation. Both men were also ordered to pay restitution.
