Meet the Candidates slated for Thursday

SYBENE-With the general election less than two months away, the Concerned Citizens of Burlington is hosting a "Meet the Candidates" forum Thursday evening.
Concerned Citizens of Burlington President Harriette Ramsey said each candidate
who attends will be given four minutes to explain their platform, and the audience will be given an opportunity to ask questions after all the candidates have spoken.
"This is your opportunity to see the candidates face to face and hopefully be able to make an intelligent decision," Ramsey said.
Ramsey stressed that the forum is not a debate, and candidates may speak only about their own beliefs and plans and not those of their opponent.
The "Meet the Candidates" night began several years ago, Ramsey said, when she and other group members agreed they wished they knew more about people running for office in that year's election. "We thought 'wouldn't it be nice if we knew something about people before we voted for them?'" Ramsey said. "We do this for the primary and the general elections."
The forum is at 6 p.m. at the Sybene Senior Center, 97 Private Drive 80 in South Point.
