PROCTORVILLE -
Although the closure of Irene Road at Proctorville was scheduled to continue through October 6, contractors for the Ohio
Department of Transportation have expedited the project to reconstruct the route's junction with State Route 7 and were expected to reopen the road today.
Irene Road has been closed since Sept. 22, in order for crews from TAB Construction to reconstruct the intersection as part of the Proctorville Widening project that is under way. It is anticipated that the route will be reopened by mid-afternoon; however, this will be contingent upon completion of the concrete pours which were scheduled to be completed Wednesday.
While the route remains closed, motorists will be detoured by way of State Route 775 in downtown Proctorville. Motorists are also reminded that they may encounter intermittent periods of delay, especially during peak travel times, while the project continues toward its Nov. 3 completion date.
