A male victim was shot multiple times and was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va. His condition was not immediately available.

Lawrence County Sheriff's deputies were called to Moore's residence just before 10 a.m. after someone reported a shooting there. Sheriff Tim Sexton said deputies recovered what they believed was the gun used in the crime.

In a prepared statement, Sexton said Moore had obtained a civil protection order against her victim last year.

In an unrelated case, a Rome Township man charged in connection with a shooting in the eastern end of the county last month had his case bound over to the grand jury last week. David E. Jones, 1121 Athalia-Wolf Creek Road, is charged with voluntary manslaughter in the Sept. 26 death of Roger Smith, Proctorville.

During Jones' preliminary hearing last week, Lawrence County Municipal Court Judge Donald Capper reduced Jones' bond from $100,000 to $25,000 cash or surety or $50,000 property. Capper also ordered Jones to remain with a family member pending the outcome of his case and further ordered him to stay away from the area where the shooting occurred.
