FAYETTE TOWNSHIP - Her story began in 1849, when she was built as a house of worship for freed and escaped slaves.

Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church at the intersection of County Road 144 and County Road 120 has both a listing on the National Register of Historic Places and a place in the hearts of local people.

According to the marker at the corner of the church yard, the Macedonia Church was both an "educational and social focal point" for the African-American community it was built to serve.
