IRONTON - The Ironton-Russell Bridge is open following inspections Sunday that required a short-term closure.
The bridge was closed by the Ohio Department of Transportation from approximately 2 to 4:30 p.m.
Sunday. The closure was coordinated in conjunction with the Ironton and Russell police departments, as well as the Ironton Fire Department.
Additional inspections are scheduled to take place throughout the week during daytime hours, which may require some temporary, brief lane restrictions; however, the bridge is scheduled to remain open. Contractors for ODOT will be working on the bridge Monday through Friday as weather permits.
Although the bridge will remain open throughout inspections, traffic could be restricted to one lane at various intervals, and motorists are advised to exercise additional caution.
