CHESAPEAKE - When coach John McClung tells his Chesapeake Lady Panthers to jump, they ask, "How far?"

The Lady Panthers jumped out to a big first quarter lead and coasted past the South Webster Lady Jeeps 51-31 Monday.

Brittany Boyle had 5 points while Sara Rucker and Candace Dickerson got 4 each as Chesapeake jumped out to a 17-4 first quarter lead and never looked back.

"We wanted to jump out on them and we did. We played well right from the start," McClung said.

Dickerson had 7 points and Rucker was 3 of 4 from the foul line in the second quarter as the lead went to 31-14 at the half.

"We came out and played hard. If we play hard and play defense, we'll compete," McClung said.

Rucker got 6 more points in the third quarter as the lead grew to a 46-21 cushion.

Rucker had 13 points to lead three players in double figures. Dickerson finished with 11 points and Boyle 10.

Noelle Wood had a solid all-around game for Chesapeake with 7 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals.

Brittany Puckett led South Webster with 10 points.

Chesapeake (3-5) hosts Huntington (W.Va.) St. Joseph Thursday.
