A Franklin Furnace man arrested late last year in connection with the beating of an Ashland, Ky., man outside Illusions bar is scheduled to stand trial Tuesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.
Paul R. Blevins, 29, faces
first-degree felony aggravated robbery, second-degree felonious assault, fourth-degree felony grand theft and third-degree fleeing and eluding.
Ironton police were summoned to the Illusions parking lot on Fourth Street Nov. 14, 2004, to investigate an alleged assault. Once there, they found the victim seriously injured.
Shortly thereafter, a Pedro resident told Lawrence County Sheriff's deputies Blevins had allegedly come to his house and had made threats against him and others.
Blevins was allegedly observed by deputies leaving the area of the Pedro man's residence, traveling at a high rate of speed.
He was later located by deputies and taken into custody after a foot pursuit.
According to a sheriff's office report, Blevins told deputy Rob Van Keuren he had gotten into a fight with the beating victim over his girlfriend.
Blevins also allegedly stole a Pontiac Grand Am from another Pedro residence earlier in the day. When he was being booked at the Lawrence County Jail, Blevins allegedly informed corrections officers he had driven the stolen car to a church parking lot near Green High School in Scioto County, where he left it. The car was located by Scioto County Sheriff's deputies.
Blevins remains in the Lawrence County Jail.
