SOUTH POINT - Even a long layoff didn't cause the South Point Lady Pointers to forget how to play at the top of their game.

Although snowy weather postponed two games last week, the Lady Pointers placed four players in double figures Monday as they blasted the New Boston Lady Tigers 72-43.

"It's been almost a week, so it was good to just play," Lady Pointers coach Dave Adams said.

Alisha Bridges had 17 points to lead the South Point scoring. Jessica Craft had 14 points, Elisha Joyce 12 points and Sarah Lee added 11.

South Point (1-32) raced to a 21-5 lead at the end of the first quarter as Lee had 7 points and Craft and Whitney Woody 4 each.

"Our press did a good job of getting us a big lead the first quarter and we took it from there," Adams said.

In the second quarter, Bridges hit a 3-pointer and was one of four players to score 4 points as the Lady Pointers took a 37-15 halftime lead.

Bridges and Craft combined for 9 points in the third quarter to offset 10 points by New Boston's Jessica Waugh and it was 50-30.

South Point outscored New Boston 22-13 in the fourth quarter as Joyce scored 8 points and Bridges 6.

South Point plays Thursday at Coal Grove in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
