The powerhouse turned to its power.

The Huntington (W.Va.) Highlanders used six extra base hits including four home runs to belt the Ironton Fighting Tigers 12-0 Wednesday.

"They're just a heck of a good team. They're the best team we've played this season," Ironton coach Mark Lewis said. "(Ironton pitcher) Jeff (Waginger) got some pitches up in the strike zone and with the wind blowing out, the ball just took off. It was one of those days."

Huntington (23-2) got a grand slam home run by Kyle Morrison to start the game and ignite a 7-run first inning that triggered the easy win.

Andrew Richardson and Aaron Foster added solo home runs in the first inning uprising and Jessie Anderson doubled and scored in the rally.

Richardson had a sacrifice fly in the second inning and hit his second solo home run in the fourth inning. Taylor Edwards doubled in a run and Brycen Ferguson singled home another in a two-run third inning.

Ironton (8-6) was limited to four hits with Dustin Preston getting two singles in two trips. Brigham Waginger had a single and Chad Miller beat out an infield roller for the other two Ironton hits.

Ironton hosts Wheelersburg Thursday and visits Gallipolis Friday.
