SOUTH POINT - It was a two-for-one sale.

Not only did the South Point Lady Pointers beat the Coal Grove Lady Hornets for a Division III sectional tournament win, but they used the game for an Ohio Valley Conference makeup game.

And what a makeup game it proved to be.

Ashley Patrick and Alison Queen combined on a no-hitter and the OVC win gave the Lady Pointers the league championship outright.

South Point, 17-7 overall and ending 9-1 in the league, will host Rock Hill at 5 p.m. Thursday in the sectional finals.

The Lady Pointers pounded out 14 hits en route to the win. Summer Malone, Nicole Nichols, Chelsi Plants and Patrick all went 2-for-3 while Maria Viglianco and Jessi Craft were 2-4.

South Point led just 1-0 after four innings, then erupted for eight runs in the fifth inning.
