RIO GRANDE - So far this season, Ryan Bloomfield has been like clockwork, and he was right on time Monday.

Bloomfield ran his record to 8-0 as he pitched a six-hitter to lead the Green Bobcats to a 5-3 win over Whiteoak in the Division IV district baseball tournament at the University of Rio Grande.

Bloomfield struck out eight and walked two as he kept the Bobcats alive in the postseason.

"Ryan Bloomfield was true to form, giving up only two walks while striking out eight, six of those coming from the 1-through-3 spots in their lineup," Green coach Dave Shoupe said.

"Offensively, we put the ball in play, striking out only two times, which put pressure on their defense all day."

Mark Castro led the Green offense as he doubled and went 2-for-2 with a pair of runs batted in.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, Green finally pushed across the tying run in the fourth inning. The Bobcats scored four

times in the fifth inning to take the lead for good at 5-1.

Green, 20-2, plays Greenup County, Ky., Wednesday before playing in the district finals Friday against the Crooksville vs. Reedsville Eastern winner.
