"Chuck really ran a good race. He led from beginning to end," Fairland coach and the runner's father Chuck Wentz said. "But we had a lot of guys who ran well."

Besides Wentz, Eddie Adkins was seventh at 19:25, Aaron Ward 10th at 19:55, Brian King was 14th with a 20:17.

"Eddie Adkins had his best time, as did Aaron Ward, Brian King and Steven Twill. All of them set personal bests," coach Wentz said.

Also running for Fairland were John Siccardi, Dave Goodall and Shane Meadows.

Chris Dirling of Coal Grove was fourth (18:59) while Chesapeake's Adam Slone was fifth (19:10) and Tyler Cravens finished sixth (19:11).

Meigs won the girls meet with Fairland second and Chesapeake third.

Kayla McGhee was fifth at 24:42 to lead the Lady Dragons.

"The girls are running better. Three of our girls are playing volleyball and they've brought their times down by three minutes," coach Wentz said.

Fairland won both the boys' and girls' junior high meets.

The junior Dragons boys' team

had just 20 points to finish ahead of Ashland, Ky., and Rock Hill. Fairland has finished first or second in every meet this season.

Fairland's junior high, which has 18 team members, took places 2 through 8.

The Lady Dragons were the only complete junior high team and took places 3 through 8.

The Chili Fest meet is Saturday in Huntington, W.Va., and the Jackson Invitational is Thursday, Sept. 22.
