WARREN - The Chesapeake Panthers drew the line against the Warren Warriors.

The line the Panthers drew was their offensive line which helped Chesapeake roll past Warren 40-15 Saturday night.

"The offensive line did a great job," Panthers coach Phil Davis said. "Everybody was doing what they were supposed to do. The backs ran hard and our line blocked."

Davis gave credit to Chris Dempsey at center, Eric McWhorter and Brad Eldred at the guards, Andrew Ittig and Brad Wiley for the Panthers 455 total yards including 351 on the ground.

The main beneficiaries of the line play were twin brothers Cody and Cory Methax combined for 220 yards rushing. Cody ran 14 times for 124 yards and Cory 15 times for 96.

Kersten Harris added 68 yards on 11 carries and quarterback Caleb McComas was 8 of 9 passing for 104 yards and two touchdowns.

The Panthers defense stifled the Warriors passing game as

Jeffrey Thornburg, Caleb McComas and Dempsey all had interceptions.

"I thought our secondary played well. They wanted to throw it and we had everybody covered," Davis said. "We played a little better. Warren was better than last year."

Chesapeake took a 13-0 lead in the first quarter on a 20-yard run by Harris and a 17-yard scoring pass to Thornburg.

Cody Methax shook free for a 70-yard touchdown run with 7:33 left in the half to push the lead to 19-0. Cory Methax then ran 5 yards for a touchdown and McComas hit Thornburg on the conversion and it was 27-0 at the break.

Tyler Schaad had a 1-yard touchdown run as Warren got within 27-7 late in the third quarter.

But Chesapeake came back with a 1-yard touchdown run by Patrick Fernandez and it was 34-7.

Schaad's 70-yard run set up a 1-yard TD plunge by Josh Offenberger with 10:46 left and the Warriors trailed 34-15.

But the Panthers put the game away on an 8-yard scoring pass from McComas to Thornburg with 5:12 to play.

Chesapeake is now 2-3. Warren falls to 1-4.
