Grand jury indicts nine on drug, robbery charges

A Lawrence County Grand Jury had a short day Monday but will likely be working long hours today.
The grand jury returned nine indictments Monday, six of which were secret indictments involving drug charges. These names are withheld to allow law enforcement officers the opportunity to apprehend the suspects.
Jason P. Belcher, 19, with no known address, was indicted on four counts of felonious assault, each with a gun charge. He was also indicted for felony charges of possession of crack and possession of cocaine. Belcher also was indicted for a misdmeanor of criminal damaging.
Belcher was arrested last month after Burlington residents alerted authorities to gun shots that were allegedly fired in that area. Belcher was discovered hiding in a pile of clothes in a nearby residence. When he was taken into custody, authorities allegedly found powder cocaine and crack cocaine in his possession. The firearm allegedly used was found at the scene.
Joseph Inscoe, 25, of 80 County Road 408, Ironton, was indicted on four felony charges if burglary.
Last week, deputies arrested Joe Inscoe, 25, of 80 County Road 408, Proctorville, in connection with three break-ins in the Chesapeake and Proctorville areas
Lawrence County deputies were called to investigate three separate incidents and determined all three incidents were committed by the same person. Inscoe was tracked to West Virginia and authorities there located and arrested him. Some of the stolen property was allegedly recovered at the time of the arrest.
Jeremy Morrison, 23, of 511 Spruce St., Ironton, was indicted on felony charge of complicity to robbery.
The grand jury meets again today to consider 17 cases.
