WEST PORTSMOUTH — Some things never change. And it almost drives Green coach Kevin Lewis crazy.

Green had yet another poor performance at Portsmouth West, but the Bobcats still managed to come away with a 52-48 win over the Senators Tuesday in a non-league game.

Green (1-1) struggled from the field and shot a dismal 20 of 38 from the foul line.

“We never play well at West. It was a game we didn’t shoot well and yet we still had a chance to win,” Lewis said.

Brian Ramey scored 13 points, Derek Lewis 12 — all from the line — and John Dawson 10 to lead the Bobcats.

Jerrod Pendleton scored a game-high 21 points and Shea Lauder 20 points to pace West.

“West is very athletic. It was an opportunity to get a win. It got us headed in the right direction. We just need to get back in the gym and get better,” coach Lewis said.

Ramey had six points in the first quarter as Green took a 12-4 lead.

West outscored Green 19-12 in the second quarter as Lauder and Pendleton combined for 13 points to cut Green’s lead to 24-23. Lewis had four points for the Bobcats.

Lewis scored five more points in the third quarter and Green’s defense held West to nine points to open up a 38-32 lead.

Jason Bester and John Dawson scored four points each in the fourth quarter and Lewis sank three more foul shots as the Bobcats held on to win.

Green does not return to action until Dec. 16 at home against Beaver Eastern.
