Time out!

Those two words may have been the difference in a win or a loss for the St. Joseph Flyers.

OK, maybe it was something else.

After falling behind early, the Flyers stormed back and posted a 70-33 win over the New Boston Tigers.

New Boston scored the first six points of the game and led 10-2 when St. Joseph coach Kevin Hacker called a time out.

&uot;We started slow so I called a time out,&uot; said Hacker. &uot;We came out and turned up the defense. The difference in the game was our defense and our intensity. We stepped it up in the second and third quarters.&uot;

After New Boston went ahead 10-2, Michael Basedow scored seven points and Ryan Schwab six as the Flyers stormed back to take a 17-13 lead.

Basedow drained a pair of 3-pointers in the second quarter and Alex Swarts scored seven points in the second quarter as St. Joseph built a 36-2 halftime cushion.

In the third quarter, Cory Lewis got the hot hand and scored 12 points including 6-of-6 at the line.

&uot;New Boston came out after us, but we were able to rise to the challenge.&uot; Hacker said.

Lewis and Schwab both sat out most of the second quarter in foul trouble. Hacker said there was a better way

&uot;We shot better and we made our foul shots. We didn’t shoot foul shots very well the other night at Rock Hill,&uot; Hacker said.

St. Joseph emptied its bench in the fourth quarter. Jarrod Laber had four points and Ryan Staton three points for the Tigers in the quarter.

The Flyers play at Symmes Valley next Tuesday.
