SOUTH WEBSTER - Pick a scorer. Any scorer.
With a team full of scorers, the Green Bobcats were at a loss defensively as they fell to the South Webster Jeeps 78-50 Tuesday in a non-league game.
Three of the Jeeps combined for 60 points as they gunned their way to the
win.
Nick Aldridge had 26 points, Brigham Waginger 21 and Evan DeCamp 13 for the Jeeps, now 17-1.
“I think we have to give South Webster credit for winning the ball game. They’re a very talented team with a lot of weapons. They cause a lot of match up problems. It’s hard to leave someone alone to help on someone else,” Green coach Kevin Lewis said.
Green (10-7) was led by Brian Ramey with 18 points and Derek Lewis with 17 points including three 3-pointers. Joey Dyer added 10 points, six in the fourth quarter.
South Webster used nine points by Waginger to jump in front 20-3 at the end of the first quarter.
Derek Lewis had a three-point play for Green’s only points.
“We just got off to a very poor start. Once we got a little momentum going, we played better,” coach Lewis said.
Ramey scored seven points and Lewis six in the second quarter but Aldridge had 10 points as the Jeeps built a 37-18 halftime cushion.
Aldridge had eight points and Waginger seven in the third quarter as the lead grew to 61-35. Derek Lewis and Ramey combined for 11 of Green’s points.
South Webster is ranked fourth in the AP poll.
