Harper#8217;s perfect game helps Redwomen sweep Jeeps

PEDRO — It was a day of firsts for Rock Hill Redwomen pitchers.
In the first game of a Saturday doubleheader, Bobbi Harper pitched her first perfect game as Rock Hill blanked the South Webster Lady Jeeps 10-0 in five innings.
In the second game, Jazel DeAutremont won her first career game as Rock Hill cruised to a 22-5 win.
“Bobbi pitched pretty good, but the defense was good behind her. It takes a team effort,” Redwomen coach Mary Harper said.
“Jazel did a good job for her first game. She just threw strikes.”
Rock Hill scored four runs in the first inning of the first game.
DeAutremont and Harper singled, Katrina Settle walked and a passed ball scored a run.
After an out at home plate, a wild pitch scored a run, Brooke Long reached on a missed third strike, Candice Chaffins was safe on an error and Megan Long had an RBI single.
The lead went to 7-0 in the third inning.
Megan Long and Shelli Harper singled, DeAutremont walked and Bobbi Harper had a two-run single. A wild pitch scored the third run.
The Redwomen applied the mercy rule with three runs in the fourth inning.
Booke Long and Kayla Kelley singled and moved up on a wild pitch. Samantha Massie had a two-run single and a wild pitch scored the final run.
Megan Long went 2-3 as seven different players racked up nine hits.
Rock Hill combined 14 hits and 10 walks to win the second game.
Chaffins had a two-run single in the first inning as Rock Hill took a 3-0 lead.
After Rock Hill got three more runs in the second inning, the Redwomen got four more in the third inning keyed by Settles who had her own two-run single that pushed the lead to 10-0.
South Webster got three runs in the top of the fourth inning, but Rock Hill erupted for 12 runs in their half of the inning.
Five hits, seven walks, three hit batsmen and a two-run base hit by Bobbi Harper highlighted the uprising.
Bobbi Harper, who was 2-4 in the first game, went 4-4 in the nightcap. Settles was 3-5 and Massie 2-2.
Rock Hill, now 4-4, hosts Coal Grove Monday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
