COAL GROVE — We came, we saw, we hit and fielded.

The Rock Hill Redwomen had 11 hits and didn’t commit an error as they blanked the Coal Grove Lady Hornets 12-0 in an Ohio Valley Conference game Wednesday.

“We hit the ball. We saw the ball well and our defense was as solid as always,” Redwomen coach Mary Harper said.

The Redwomen scored three runs in each of the first two innings.

In the first, Shelli Harper singled, stole second base and Bobbi Harper reached on an error as the run scored. Kayla Kelley singled and Harper came home after working her way out of a rundown between home and third base.

Candice Chaffins followed with a run-scoring double.

Shelli Harper singled to start the second inning and stole second and third. Settle singled for the first run and came home on a hi by Bobbi Harper. Jazel DeAutremont walked and Kelley had a run-scoring single.

The lead went to 7-0 in the third inning when Brooke Long was hit by a pitch, Megan Long walked, and Samantha Massie and Shelli Harper each hit into a fielder’s choice as a run scored.

The Redwomen put the game away with five runs in the fourth inning.

Kelley was safe on an error, moved up on a wild pitch and Chaffins singled to put runners on the corners. Chaffins stole second and Brooke Long singled in a run. Megan Long reached on an error as Chaffins scored.

Massie reached on a fielder’s choice and Shelli Harper belted a two-run double.

Rock Hill, 13-5 and 6-3 in the OVC, plays at Chesapeake Thursday in a league game.
