A community kick-off meeting to plan the future face of Ironton school facilities will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the Ironton High School auditorium.

The meeting will feature an interactive process that will allow those who attend to give their input about basic interior and exterior appearances of the new buildings.

Superintendent Dean Nance said a partnering session is planned for early June to develop the process to design, construction and maintenance of the buildings.

Nance said proposals have been issued for survey work and required site evaluations at both Ironton High School and at Ironton Middle School, where the new elementary and middle schools will be built.

City voters approved a $48 million bond issue and levy to build all new facilities in the May primary election. It was the third time city school officials had tried to pass the levy.
