Minford led 7-0 at the end of the first quarter after a 39-yard pass from Luke Lester to Jared Farmer capped a 75-yard, 6-play drive.

Matt Cooper intercepted a pass at the 5-yard line to halt a Minford drive, and Coal Grove turned and went the other way with a 95-yard, 13-play march capped by Trent Blankenship’s 7-yard touchdown run.

But in the third quarter, Lester hooked up with Sean Childers on a 62-yard scoring pass with 8:33 to play and it was 14-7.

It didn’t take Coal Grove long to answer as Shane Jenkins returned the ensuing kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown and it was 14-13 when the conversion kick failed.

The Faclons (3-1) then took charge with a pair of touchdown runs by Sean Childers covering 7 and 28 yards and it was 28-13.

Jenkins ran 6 yards for a touchdown as Coal Grove closed the gap to 28-19.

But Trent Reynolds scampered 29 yards for a touchdown and the lead grew to 35-19 with just 1:5 to go.

Coal Grove’s Jacob Jenkins responded with a 65-yard touchdown run 40 seconds later and it was 35-27.

Blankenship went over 100 yards rushing for the fourth straight game (115) on 26 carries.

Trent Reynolds led Minford with 65 yards on 18 carries and Childers added 78 yards on 14 rushes.
