CIRCLEVILLE — If the Southeastern Ohio Athletic League golf tournament had been a two-man tag team, the Ironton Fighting Tigers might have been in the hunt.

Sophomore Nathan Kerns shot a 76 and senior Seth Christian an 81 to earn All-SEOAL individual honors, but Ironton as a team finished seventh in the team standings.

Kerns tied Charlie Doll of Portsmouth for third place behind medalist Morgan Dobbins of Jackson, a freshman who shot a 2-under par 70, and Brandon Mills of Zanesville who had a 75.

Christian was 11th overall. Players who shot an 84 or better were named All-SEOAL.

Zanesville had all four of its players on the all-league team as the Blue Devils won the team championship with a 321 team score at Cook’s Creek Golf Club.

Portsmouth carded a 329 to finish as runner-up followed by Athens at 331.

Players who carded rounds of 84 and under in the 18-hole tournament were named all-league, with all four Zanesville golfers accorded All-SEOAL status and Portsmouth and Logan each placing three on the elite team. Eight of the 10 teams had at least one player earn all-conference honors.

Besides Kerns and Christian, Ironton’s Aaron Christian finished with a 105, Tanner Reed had a 106 and Michael Filkins a 118.

The top four player scores are used to determine the team score.
