Redsfest tickets on sale as Reds prepare for 2007

It’s time to celebrate baseball, Cincinnati Reds style.

The annual Redsfest returns Dec. 1-2 at Duke Energy Center in Cincinnati as the Reds organization celebrates baseball with its fans in an off-season extravaganza.

After a two-year absence due to the renovation of the Duke Energy Center in downtown Cincinnati, the popular fan festival gets underway from 4-11 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, and then from noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday.

One-day tickets for adults are $10 and $5 for youths 12 and under, and two-day tickets $15 for adults and $7 for youngsters.

The event includes fan interaction, autographs and photos with current and former players.

“We are very proud and excited to announced the return of our annual fan festival,” said Reds chief executive officer Bob Castellini.

“This year’s event will kick off annual festivities that are more unique and spectacular than anything we’ve offered in the past. Our sponsors have really stepped up so that we can make this the premiere preseason event for Reds fans.”

One of the activities is a fashion show on Friday presented by Macy’s and the show on the main stage at 5 p.m. will include the unveiling of the Reds new uniforms.

The first 10,000 fans attending Redsfest each day will receive a commemorative beverage koozie depicting the team’s new uniform style.

Friday will also feature former Reds relief pitcher Rob Dibble who now works with Fox Sports Net. Dibble will be taping a segment of the Best Damn Sports Show Period.

Current Reds starting pitcher Bronson Arroyo is on of several performing acts. Arroyo will perform in concert along with several other local acts between 7:30-11 p.m. on Friday and 6-9 p.m. on Saturday.

Arroyo will sing and play his acoustic guitar, then follow in performance by signing his new Covering the Bases CD each day.

A Hot Stove League segment with general manager Wayne Krivsky, manager Jerry Narron and others will be held from 2:30-3:30 on Saturday.

A kids-only press conference with Reds players will be held from 11 a.m. to noon and from 4-5 p.m.

Hooters will sponsor a wings eating contest on Saturday from 1:45 to 2:30 p.m.

A Reds Idol national anthem contest will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Also on Saturday, NewlyReds Game featuring players and their significant others at 5 p.m.

An from 7 p.m. until midnight, a Reds community fund celebrity poker tournament will be held.
