PORTSMOUTH — Winning for the Green Lady Bobcats was as easy as counting to three.

Green nailed seven 3-pointers including five by Shay Richendollar in a 46-23 Southern Ohio Conference win Thursday over the Portsmouth Notre Dame Lady Titans.

“Shay shot the ball really well. I can’t think of any shot she missed,” Green coach Dale Royse said.

Notre Dame took a 9-7 lead before Green managed to take an 18-15 halftime edge as Richendollar drained two shots from behind the arc.

Royse said part of the team’s problem was the long layoff during the Christmas break. The Lady Bobcats had not played since Dec. 18.

“We were a little sluggish from the long layoff,” Royse said. “(Elista) Hall and Richendollar provided the offensive spark in the third quarter that got us going.”

Hall scored the first 7 points of the third quarter and Richendollar knocked down a pair of trifectas while the defense limited Notre Dame to 2 points and it was 32-17 at the end of the quarter.

Richendollar scored 15 points and Hall 11 to lead the Lady Bobcats (5-4, 4-3 SOC).

Katie Hopkins led Notre Dame with 9 points.

Green hosts Portsmouth Clay at home Monday in a key SOC game.
