PORTSMOUTH — Halee Hilgenberg will play another day.

And that day is Friday when she competes in the girls Division II district tennis tournament in Columbus.

Hilgenberg, a junior for the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers, qualified for the district after finished second among 48 players from 16 schools in the sectional tournament last Wednesday and Friday.

Hilgenberg beat Sarah Johnson of Minford, Sydney Wilson of Miami Trace and Ashley Link of Portsmouth.

She lost in the championship match to Lauren Dever of Wheelersburg.

Also, Ironton’s Sarah Ray advanced to the sectional sweet 16 with wins over Stephanie Day of Lucasville Valley and Karen Morven of Jackson.

However, Ray lost in a heartbreaker as she fell in the third set of the semifinals.
